85/15 Questions & FL 21 Required Reports

If you currently have the 35% exemption please wait until after this month’s Office Hours to send me questions about 85/15 and the new 35% exemption requests.  I am quite sure most of your questions will be addressed and required forms provided during that training. The ELRs have not yet received the updated training so I do not know if anything has changed or if updated forms will be provided so it is not a best practice for me to answer your questions at this time.

Please note:

• If your school is organized on semester terms, and you currently have the 35% exemption, you cannot request a new 35% exemption until Spring 22 and you will need to submit both the 85/15 ratio report and the 35% exemption request form together at that time.  You cannot submit the request this fall.
• If your school is organized on quarter terms, you can submit the 85/15 report and 35% exemption request based on the first quarter that occurs after 10/1/21.
• If your school is not organized on terms you can submit the 85/15 reports and 35% exemption request based on the 3rd quarter of the calendar year (July through September).  You must submit an 85/15 report for each class start date you have during the quarter and the reports are due no later than 10/30/21.

Again, I request that you hold all questions until after the training and then if something was not clear to you in the training or was not covered, I’d be happy to assist you.

If you do not currently have the 35% exemption and have questions about the required FL 21 85/15 ratio reports please send them to me.  Please remember, FL21 85/15 reports are due no later than 30 days after the start of your fall term and I am required to suspend non-compliant schools.  Reports are required even if you have no current VA students
